Only 7 sleeps to go!! The kids and I have finished their tree… It’s growing on me… it’s very colourful… haha but they worked really hard on it, so I love it. I’d call the attempt of doing something different this year a success. Last year in Canada when we did the lego decorations due to the pure fact we had almost nothing, because it was all sitting in a container awaiting shipment from somewhere within Auckland port, it actually taught me a really special lesson. It showed me that we didn’t need to go out and buy a bunch of decorations just to have the “typical” set up, and that the kids and I actually loved making things for it more. I think it was a great way to teach the kids creativity, flexibility, and that it’s ok to do something different from everyone else. If you’re having fun, it’s a thumbs up in my book. So this year I kept the usual decorations in their box, bought washi tape, coloured paper, glitter, and glue, and let the kids at it. I’ll admit I was the main maker behind the paper chain, those where always my favourite to make as a kid, but the rest is mostly them. And they are pretty darn proud of it, as am I.
Happy holidays everyone! Have a safe and happy break and I hope Santa delivers all your wishes :)
